How it all began
The Story of Wes & Becca
Back in June of 2011, Wes and Becca first crossed paths in a World History class at Bellarmine University. From the very beginning, they noticed each other—exchanging shy glances across the classroom, quietly intrigued. They both sensed that the other wasn’t the typical city-slicker or artsy Bellarmine student, which sparked a quiet curiosity and connection.
Wes invited Becca to study for their final exam (an offer she now admits she should have accepted, since history wasn’t exactly her strong suit). But she declined with a semi-legit excuse: planning her daughter’s first birthday party. After that summer course ended, they went their separate ways—at least for a little while.
Fast forward to the fall semester: they bumped into each other on the stairs of Frazier Hall. That chance encounter rekindled the connection, and soon, they were catching up during lunch breaks in Horrigan Hall. They exchanged numbers, but by that time, both were already in other relationships.
From the fall of 2011 to graduation in May 2014, Wes and Becca were inseparable on the hills of Bellarmine. Study sessions, lunch breaks, workouts in the SuRF, and library marathons deepened their friendship. Their bond grew through shared moments—attending Easter Mass with Becca’s family, visiting the zoo with Becca and Brooklyn, summer hangouts at the racetrack and tractor pulls.
They graduated together in May 2014, and then life pulled them in different directions. They completely lost touch for nearly two years.
Until one day, out of the blue, Becca called Wes. He missed the call—he was at Eldora Speedway—but she left a voicemail saying how much she missed her best friend and hoped they could reconnect. That message reignited their friendship. Over the next several years, they stayed in touch sporadically—exchanging messages, catching up late at night in the Coffee Crossing parking lot, or grabbing dinner whenever Wes passed through town for racing.
Nearly a decade (and a few degrees and relationships) later, the stars finally aligned. In July 2022, during Bellarmine Alumni Night at a LouCity soccer game, timing was finally on their side. After 11 years of friendship, laughter, and what-ifs, Wes and Becca officially became a couple.
Since then, it’s felt like old times again—inseparable and in sync. Becca can be found cheering on Wes’ throwers at spring track meets and sharing the racing blanket at the summer races. Wes, on the other hand, has proudly taken on the roles of honorary farmhand and personal wedding photographer support crew.
